The Salvation Army`s Salvo Care Business is seeking a Coach to provide accountable Christian leadership, clinical decisions, business/financial management and supervising of the overall service including faculty and volunteers.

The Coach is to be responsible for the day-to-day process of Salvo Care Line 24 hour telephone counselling service.

- Full Time - Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (Level 7)

Selection Criteria

Essential Requirements:

- A relevant undergraduate qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling.

- Management experience preferably in the welfare arena.

- A good knowledge of counselling practice and experience.

- Ability to leave clinical direction to telephone counsellors.

- Demonstrated ability to handle crises, eg suicide attempts.

- Demonstrated experience in precise and appropriate recording and administrative systems.

- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the power to enter in and contribute a team, and communicate effectively with people at all levels both within and outside the organisation.

- A loyalty to the Christian religion as evidenced by an active participation in the Christian church. An ability to provide pastoral assistance, to pray with persons and to excuse the Christian Gospel. (It will be expected that the incumbent will be willing and capable to provide Christian devotional input and leadership, and run or take office in Corps / Social ministry as division of his / her role.)

- A demonstrated ability to allow management support and oversight to paid and volunteer telephone counsellors including a cognition of Human Resource Management issues, including Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity issues and Anti-discrimination Legislation.

- The power to establish a non-judgemental approach to all people and an ability to react to mass in crisis.

- The power to mediate and bring in a wider array of supporting personnel and professional groups.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated capacity to make reports and submissions for funding within specified timeframes.

- Proficiency working in a Windows environment, utilising Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office XP.

- A willingness to raise the use of Salvo Care Line as a Christian agency within the community and be actively involved in relevant inter-agency meetings.
