X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson show

It`s week five of The X Factor live shows. Groups mentor, Simon Cowell lost girl group Belle Amie last week later a whistle off with Cheryl Cole`s Katie Waissel, leaving him with one act - One Direction - to mentor in his category. Cheryl Cole remains the sole Judge with a complete category. 10 acts continue to fight it out this weekend.

Guests this week on The Xtra Factor on ITV2 are The Saturdays, The Hurts, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films), Rufus Hound, Emma Willis, Shayne Ward and Kylie Minogue.

The remaining acts are:

Groups category, mentored by Simon Cowell: One Direction.

Over 28`s category, mentored by Louis Walsh: Mary Byrne and `wild card` Wagner Fuiza-Carrihlo.

16-27 Boys category, mentored by Dannii Minogue: Matt Cardle, Aiden Gimshaw, and `wild card` Paije Richardson.

16-27 Girls category, mentored by Cheryl Cole: Katie Waissel, Rebecca Ferguson, Cher Lloyd and `wild card` Treyc Cohen.

The subject of the point was `American Anthems'.

After their last performances, the acts have to hold until Sunday night to get out which act will be out of the competitor in a single elimination. The two acts with the last number of votes will then sing for survival with the Judges saving only one act.

Also in tomorrow night`s show, Shayne Ward performing `Gotta Be Mortal` and Kylie Minogue performing `Better Than Today`.

Dannii Minogue was wearing a Philip Armstrong couture dress and Brian Atwood nude heels. Cheryl Cole was wearing a Pucci dress and Christian Laboutin shoes.

Performances and Judges` Comments

cherlloyd X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Cher: `Empire Commonwealth of Mind`

Louis: You`re singing and you truly can sing_you sang and rapped, you`re comfortable on the stage_you could be in the final.

Dannii: You see so fresh tonight, that song could`ve been written for, if you could get a spellr to write that way for you_I really liked it.

Simon: Any other week I would claim that an incredible performance but after last week I`m a small bit disappointed_last week was a 100 percent original, different, this was a little bit copycat_I`m not blaming you, all I`m saying is because of the banner of the competition this year, to earn the finals, knowing what`s coming up tonight, you`ve got to be more original_your mentor got a small bit lazy tonight.

Cheryl: Absolutely not, perfect balance, differing your direction_I want to say a massive thank you to the multitude who are encouraging you out there

4marybyrne X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Mary Byrne: `There You`ll Be`

Dannii: What`s really interesting tonight is that we`re low to the top ten and you see what it way to every contestant_think tonight for any reason you didn`t look like you were inside the zone, people absolutely love you and see the very important matter is the just one who can win this for you is you.

Cheryl: I hold with Dannii, you look very excited and not really yourself_I hope you`re here next week.

Simon: Everyone seems in that land of mind tonight, everyone`s here to win, to do well, this will change someone`s life if you do well_it`s a competition_I thought you sang it pretty well Mary.

Louis: You are the people`s champion, I don`t like what these people say, you`re a literal person with real talent and I want everyone to voting for you Mary_I`ll do whatsoever I cause to do and I know you will too.

Mary: I:m just not in the zone, not felt in the district all week, lonely for my daughter, for everything.

4katiewaissel X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Katie Waissel: `Don`t Speak`

Louis: What I care most you, you`re a paladin and in the music industry you get to be tough_you work better under pressure_that was a magnificent performance, I`d like people to make you a chance and try you on your vocal ability.

Dannii: For me I didn`t connect with that_everybody is good of nervousness and you do best on your `save me` song.

Simon: It sort of fell apart in the middle, a slight bit of the song went, you looked like you were struggling_parts of the operation were brilliant, the staging, the look, the fact you`re not a whinger, you`ve had a pair of tough weeks and you fall back battling everytime and I suppose that`s what every recording artist needs.

Cheryl: You`re a fighter, you are eccentric, a drama queen, but that`s all section of what I absolutely love about you_ thank you, sometimes it difficult when you`re caught up in negativity, to be strong, but you are and I know that about you.

4aidengrimshaw X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Aiden Grimshaw: `Nothing Compares 2 U`

Louis: Every week you get out and make us an astonishing performance, you`re consistent_I`m trying to notice something negative and I can`t get anything, you`re the perfect popstar.

Cheryl: I`ve said for the preceding few weeks, you`re intense and accept that`s a fact that`s I can`t fault your singing.

Simon: What people don`t love is that call was simply put in last night, you just had 24-hours to take it, and taking that into account I thought that was absolutely brilliant.

Dannii: I believe we kept the heart of you_well done.

4paijerichardson X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Paije Richardson: `I`m A Believer / Hey Ya`

Louis: Week five and you`re still in the contest and you`re getting better and having more fun, you`re soulful, we`re seeing your personality.

Cheryl: You absolutely made my night, full of bubbles, little bow tie, amazing twi st, my favourite performance of yours so far.

Simon: I loved the whole Austin Powers vibe, the two songs, it was without question your best performance, I remember you came out here to hold and you actually put on a show, I`m really happy with you tonight Paije.

Dannii: I know that performance so much, so much fun, the dancers worked brilliantly with you, you had a lot to get on board, that was very well and acquire the right credit because it`s due.

4rebeccaferguson X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Rebecca Ferguson: `Make You Find My Love`

Louis: For the multitude that say there`s no talent on shows like X Factor, I hope they`re watching. The stock is so high. You stand out, you`re special, amazing person, effortless vocal. You`ll definitely get a recording contract.

Dannii: What an astonishing performance, you sang with soul, I love listening to you, it`s subtle, passionate, gorgeous, I simply love watching you perform.

Simon: Absolutely fantastic. Seriously fantastic. Louis it`s light to say she`ll get a recording contract but I do feel with you and you`re confidence and self esteem that you desire the public to give you something, to think in you. With everything that`s happening about the public and in the state at the instant I actually feel you`d be the almost incredible ambassador for our country, I truly do.

Cheryl: I live we had moment before we came out, I only need to thank you for having the force to get out here. The land was willing you on Rebecca. Got something very special and it`s an absolute delight to be running with you.

4wagner X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Wagner: `Viva Las Vegas / The Question Of You`

Dannii: There`s a church in Vegas that require you to talk at it. Showgirls, Elvis, a wedding. Not sure what`s next for you, don`t love what to except, the 2nd half more in air that first.

Simon: Got to be honest, when you go to fair and you go on the big dipper, it`s something you care but shouldn`t. Kind of got to that lay with you right now, I`m concerned I liked that performance. Tell you why because, don`t love what you`ve been eating, drinking what`s going through your mind Louis.

Cheryl: Maybe you could be one of the those acts that sings in church, at weddings right?

Louis: You`re still in competition. Second strain was very good, you`ve proved to the critics that you can sing, it`s entertainment, it`s fun , cult following please lift phones now.

4mattcardle X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Matt Cardle: `The Start Time (Ever I Saw Your Face)`

Louis: another great performance, the stock is so high tonight, but I suppose you`ve stolen the show. Every week you sing, but with you it`s all around the voice. An incredible recording voice, you`re the performer everybody has to beat. You`re unstoppable.

Cheryl: That was absolutely blew me away, that was amazing, I felt every single word you said. It was spine tingling matt, I totally get it, why you`re the favourite, beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

Simon: That was all and utterly stunning. Just stunning. You love what I was thought this tonight. I wish this grouping of contestants cos I wish the attitude, you knew you didn`t get it right last week, you didn`t blame anyone, you acted like a man, nailed the song. Tonight this is the Market and Rebecca show tonight,

Dannii: Now only had the interview on their feet but 4 judges. It was a complete performance. I want everyone at home knew the history you told me in the dressing room about why you sang that song and it`s significance to your family. I could find it in the execution and thank you so much.

4treyccohen X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

Treyc Cohen: `Don`t Wanna Miss A Thing`

Louis: You`re looking brilliant tonight, love about your attitude. No matter what happens you bounce back, not count what call you can do it. Well done missus!

Dannii: You do make it your best, you do sing incredibly and I saw a bit of light back. Not certain of it`s the rock, but I`m not certain that the string is that runs through out your songs.

Simon: Can`t blame the vocal, you wanted to be called a singer, well you are a large singer. Having said that if you get a lion you wish it to sting you not wish you, that`s what you`re missing, that killer instinct. You want to get in to your head, what you`re missing is love and you get to think in yourself and madame has to break it to you.

Cheryl: First of all you look breathtaking, stunning. It was a gorgeous vocal. You almost don`t want people to separate you you`re a singer, people can hear. What I`m saying is you`re a fantastic vocalist, that`s you`re thread.

4onedirection X Factor 2010: Show 5 - American Anthems - The Matt Cardle and .

One Direction: `Kids In America`

Louis: Boys what a superb way to end show. Listen everywhere I go the frenzy is development on this band. You remind me of Conduct That, Westlife, Boyzone. I loved this ut I`m going to have to get out my rule book, Simon the idea was American Anthem week and this song wasn`t even a hit in America. It`s by Kim Wilde who is from London. It`s not an American Anthem. Your mentor is cheating!

Dannii: It has the word America on it, American cheerleaders, it was great performance, really good. I don`t mean it was the best song of the dark but a capital performance, well done.

Cheryl: That absolutely cheered me up and brightened my night. You`re great kids, I love chatting to you backstage, you`re just normal lads. It was a serious song choice Cowell but not it`s not American.

Simon: You recognize what guys when you came out it was like sunlight on a beautiful day and then Louis thundercloud and dribbles on everything. It`s got Us in the song title, you got it wrong not me. Without question your best performance by a mile, seriously on the money.
