Received a surprise invite to Kylie Minogue's third show at Hammerstein Ballroom last night - more around the jackass security team there in a minute - so dragged my aching ass out to see what she's got. On the road promoting her fun "Aphrodite" album, the Aussie princess was in tip-top Greek goddess form, exuding all the essential elements of love, beauty and sexuality.For the unaware U.S. pop fan, Kylie Minogue's first evidence of a three-night run at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom would seem to be an overindulgent spectacle. A two-hour running time, multiple costume changes, a golden Pegasus on point and half-naked dancers suspended in air - isn't this the "Loco-Motion" and "Can't Get You Out of My Mind" two-hit wonder?
My favorite thing about having a lot of friends who know music in New York City is that I look like I am ALWAYS unexpectedly going to see concerts and shows last minute. I`ve always enjoyed Kylie Minogue, but never enough to spend 100 bones to go see her show. Last night (thanks to my friend Dan Chiz having flakey friends) was invited to go experience "Aphrodite Live" for free!

Let's get this out of the way: The Hammerstein Ballroom is a large way for spectacles. Some of the best shows I've seen in New York have been there, and all of them-Pulp, Kraftwerk, the Flaming Lips-have had a layer of showmanship about them that has been heightened by the room's deceptive intimacy and full sound.

Kylie Minogue will ultimately be forthcoming to Manila for a concert this July via her Aphrodite Live 2011 World Tour.
This marks the icon`s first-ever performance in the Philippines and already anticipated to be one of the better to be staged. She will do on July 5 at the Araneta Coliseum.

The nominees for this year`s Ivor Novello awards (which celebrate songwriting and composing) have been revealed.
Everything Everything and Plan B are both up for two awards, whilst the likes of Kylie, Katy B, Foals and The XX are up for one each.
This winner`s ceremony will have office on 19th May, at the Grosvenor House, London.
